Bengals Munoz set to Marshall Hispanic Festival tomorrow in Dayton; Which National Music and Dance Groups will be there?

On Saturday, the biggest Hispanic Festival in Ohio will go down in Dayton, Ohio.

And when you have the biggest event in the state, you look for the biggest names possible.

When  Karla Knox-Gordon, a secretary for PACO, and the Chairwoman for the Parade,  was thinking about who could be a possible embassador for the Annual Hispanic Heritage Festival, she went to her husband.
Marvan Gordon, a football coach at Belmont, suggested that maybe she reach out to Former Cincinnati Bengals lineman, and Hall of Famer Anthony Munoz.

After all, Munoz is Latin.

"And who knows?" Marvan told Karla.
"He might just say yes."


While Karla thought it might be a longshot, she sent the information about the Festival, which will feature the best dancers, musicians, performers and food from all over the country as they will celebrate the Hispanic culture

Within a day, Munoz and his team and responded.

And the next thing you know, it was all in stone, as the top Bengal of All-Time will be the Grand Marshall for the big event in Dayton.

The Mayor of Dayton, Nan Whaley, also will be in the parade as well.

When Munoz heard about the event,
he wanted to be a part of it, without hesitation.

And when you have some of the best performers coming from all parts of the world?
Why would you miss it?

The Festival will take place at Riverscape in Downtown Dayton. It will go from 11-11, with a myriad of music performances, vendors, and people.  The parade will start at noon.

With great weather, this could be the event of the summer!

Bengals recap: The Good, Bad, & the Stars of Preseason Game vs Bucs ; What did Hall of Famer say about the O-Line?

QB Jeff Driskel did work, going 8-9 with 2 TD's on the night

With so many rookies on the roster, it was a exciting night for the Bengals, as they kicked off their 50th season in style.

 The Bengals got the win over Tampa Bay 23-12 but as we know, pre-season games don't count as much as seeing how the newbies, free agents, and injured players who have a fresh start.

The Good -

The Bengals Offensive Line, as Hall of Famer and Bengals great Anthony Munoz said "They performed well"....They opened up holes for the running backs to do work, and kept the QB's clean for the most part. The line must hold up if the Bengals are to do major work this season.

 Mixon shows his stuff  - Not your average Joe Mixon was the star of the 1st half, and showed why he will be a force come regular season. Mixon rushed for 31 yards on 6 carries and a reception to boot. Mixon also made a few defenders miss with a couple of nice moves.

Bullock boots em through - Taking over for the local fav in Doug Nugent, Randy Bullock kicked 2 deep FGs to start his Bengals career, including  a 54 yarder that squeezed through the uprights.

Smith, Willis, Cox show "juice" on  D - Rookie Jordan Willis and Chris Smith looked good on the line, registering a sack and takles for loss. Demetrius Cox snagged a INT in the end zone.


The BAD -
The Bengals D
 The Bengals let Famous Jameis Winston and the Bucs go all the way down the field on the first possession without any resistance before Adam "Pac Man" Jones made 2 great plays to shut down the TD possibility. Shutting a team down in that first possession is key during the season.

Dalton looked flawless on the first drive, until he left a out pattern a little short and was undercut by Bucs CB Vernon Hargreaves on the goal line, stifling the Bengals offensive possession, and starting the season on a sour note.


The Stars of the Game:

Jeff Driskel, QB - Driscoll, the former 49er, shut down the McCarron talks for a week at least, with a blistering performance -  8-9 with 97 yards for a TD, and a TD run that had everyone talking, including Mixon himself. Driskel, the 3rd stringer, showed poise, a great burst, and a ability for the flair for the dramatic, and now finds himself a hot topic in Bengals and other camps.
Just how good is he?

Adam Jones, CB -  Jones, who didn't start, came into the game, and immediately shut down rising Star receiver Mike Evans on 2 goaline plays, one in which Evans was visibly frustrated. In having a great 1 on 1 cover corner like Jones to have to go to gives the Bengals a definite advantage going into the season.

Josh Malone, WR - Malone, another sleeper in camp who is making waves, was the recipient of the TD pass from Driskel, and showed why the Bengals are seriously considering keeping the star WR from Tennessee.

Is it "Miller Time" in Houston? Braxton's Camp, NFL, thinks so

When you watch Braxton Miller work out, you know he is ready more than ever.

But to hear him speak with such conviction this season?

Feels like "Action Braxton" or  "Miller Time" is ready to happen in Texas.




At his annual youth football camp in Huber Heights, Ohio where he starred for the Wayne Warriors, he spoke about the success and the future of the camp, as he drew almost 400 kids for the day.



Miller and his camp also spoke on the prospects of him having the Breakout Season this year in the NFL that most have expected from Miller.




While he was a supremely talented and successful QB in college, he changed positions and landed in Texas with JJ Watt and Houston.

 With 2 seasons under his belt, look for a recharged Miller to come out with a greater purpose and hunger, one like you may never have seen before.

And we have seen some electrifying moments from Mr Miller.

As you can see Millers' confidence is at a all time high, simply because, for the first time in a long time, he is ready and fully prepared to take on one of his goals, which is to help the Texans get back to the playoffs, and become a force in the NFL while in doing it.




Only this time, maybe with a "Breakout Player of the Year" to match.

Training Camp Recap; Mixon continues to wow the crowd; Could he start in his rookie season?

Can Joe Mixon help get Bengals back to playoffs?

Every year you hear about the situation in the NFL draft. That one questionable player who who has a wealth of talent, but loses stock because of what happens outside of the field, the court, the ring or whatever capacity.

This year, the Bengals decided to take a chance on supremely talented running back Joe Mixon from Oklahoma. While Mixon has Adrian Peterson- like qualities, he will have to prove himself that he belongs in the NFL after going through a near career-ending situation at Oklahoma in which he was accused of an assault charge against a female a few years ago (2014). While Mixon has been the perfect citizen since, he still will have a bullseye on his back for a long time.

 But the one thing that's for sure with Mixon,  is that he is extremely focused in training camp, and is making plays every single day, almost to the point where the Bengals might be considering starting Mixon. He dazzled again today with 2 long runs as he started inside with power and broke outside with serious force and speed, running past the secondary and hearing big ovations from the crowd.

While starting seems like a long shot right now, Mixons' size and speed could prove otherwise later in the season.

 Jeremy Hill hasn't had the best of training camp, and Mixon has shown the burst, the power, the ability to read the holes, and the coaches and the fans love it already. You can see why the Bengals decided to draft the talented running back in the second round.

The Bengals know how to deal with talent that has been that has made mistakes and seem to be able to right or help guide the ships of players who have made mistakes. If Mixon can keep his head on straight, the sky's the limit for the former Sooner. He has shown that he will be in the rotation, whether he is starting or whether he is a backup. And on top of that he can catch the ball so he will be in some passing routes as well.

The maturation of Mixon this season will tell all, and as long as that goes well? The Bengals could have a possible Rookie of the Year on their hands, or in their backfield.

He's definitely not your average joe.

It's Win or Go Home today for Bengals; Steelers look to end Who Dey playoff hopes

  After all that's happened this season, once again it comes down to the Pittsburgh Steelers standing in the way of the Bengals as they try to grind their way into a playoff spot.
 

Will Burfict control his emotions today? 

     If the Bengals win this game? The experts will talk about a 3-game winning streak and how Who Dey is alive...
   If the Bengals lose this game?
 Start planning vacation.
 

  The Steelers have found their groove, after Le'Veon Bell hit Buffalo for 230+ last week in a win.
   Pittsburgh sits atop the Division at 8-5, & with a win will stay on top of the AFC North.

    The Bengals are 5-7-1 & need every win, especially against the divisional opponents, to have any type of chance at a playoff berth. 8-7-1 could still get them the divisional title, depending on how things play out.
    Cincinnati could still win the division, but they will have to (1) Beat the Steelers today, (2) beat the Ravens next time they meet & (3) hope for some losses from the Steelers and Ravens as well.

 After falling to 3-7-1, the Bengals have also found a rhythm, as Tyler Eifert, Jeremy Hill, and Andy Dalton have stepped up. Eifert was hurt starting the season, but seems to have found his stride.

    Dalton will need to step it up another level to get this team to the playoffs.

 And quite franky, it's time.

Dalton, has to show that he is the unquestioned leader of the offense. Now.

AJ McCarron will be playing starting QB next season.

Will depend on the end of this season and how Dalton plays.

   Too many times you see the confused look on Dalton's face, primarily after the losses. But it's time for him to carry the load, as opposed to riding the stars coat tails.
  Dalton has had some very good seasons to date, Pro Bowl seasons to be exact - but in order to push himself into the "Elite Status" he so desperately wants, he needs to rally his troops and get them to a playoff berth, starting with a win today.
 
    Star WR A.J. Green will play today, coming back from his injury, and that should help Dalton tremendously.

   The defense have been playing well all season, and they are expecting that this will be a war. Flat out.
 Which brings it back to the O.
 Can Dalton get it done today on the biggest stage of the season?
 The blood between these 2 teams is already on boil, so let's get ready to rumble.

   Last year these two teams had the wildest game to date as Big Ben drove his squad the length of the field in less than 2 min to snatch a playoff win from the Bengals and continue the running joke of Marvin Lewis' inability to win a playoff game, as the Bengals slid to 0-7 under his helm.

 To me? The QB must make it happen today.
 Can Dalton lead his troops to a "Playoff Atmosphere" type of win and keep the momentum rolling?
 Or will Big Ben continue to haunt both Ohio teams as he has done so many times in his career?
Should be a great one today.

   Playoff atmosphere, 2 playoff type teams, history and tradition, horrible weather, and a real dislike for each other.

 After checking out the Cincinnati Bengals practice at West Carrollton High School, the excitement of the Bengals season starting is definitely here in the 937.

     In front of 6,000+ fans the Cincinnati Bengals participated in the public practice at West Carrollton HS.
   Marvin Lewis spoke to the  football team first, followed by a hour-plus long practice in which the Bengals put on a show.

With beautiful weather & a rabid fan base?
It was all smiles throughout as the Bengals worked out less than 2 weeks away from the start of the NFL Season.

And which player got the most love from Dayton peeps?

DB Adam Jones, as the celebrated DB was hooted and hollered to all day during the practice from the fans.
 "More Bengals should be like you" was what one fan screamed as Jones made his way on the field.

Jones made a play on special teams and the fans went wild. As he strutted his way over to the crowd he waved his hands in a "Get it hype" format, which sent fans almost over the edge.

The Bengals have 2 more games before they take on the Jets in the season opener.

Bengals practice in Dayton area today

The Cincinnati Bengals will hold a open practice to the public today at 4pm at West Carrollton High School.

The Bengals, who come to the Dayton area every year, has came back to West Carrollton this year after practicing at Springboro last year

   Head coach Marvin Lewis will speak to the Pirates team before the Bengals practice.

The practice is from 4-6 with the players signing autographs immediately afterwards.
